Church Development (Re-ordering) Project

This month I report mixed news. The good news is that, subject to two points of clarification, the DAC (church approval body) indicated in May that they were willing to recommend approval of the entire reordering scheme to the Chancellor in London. It is hoped that this will be confirmed very soon. The less good news is that despite a huge amount of work put in by Mel Denning, we were unfortunately not successful in obtaining the Veolia funding. Reasons were not given, but we know that competition was fierce. The PCC has therefore decided to proceed with building the toilet, as a first stage project, as soon as we have full approval and have accepted a competitive quotation. We hope we can start work before the end of the year. We know that we already have sufficient funding for this part of the project. Once this work is done, we will know for sure what money we have left and how much the internal changes (stage 2) will cost. We can then set about fundraising and applying for further grants to meet the gap. Nick

Dormington and Mordiford Parish Council

It is very pleasing to report that Dr John Wood has volunteered to become a co-opted Parish Councillor for Dormington. Thank you John. There is still another vacancy if anybody else would like to volunteer. If you have any matters to be raised with the Parish Council, please contact John on 850543 or the Parish Clerk, Chris Bucknell, on 07777 669662.

Churchyard Mowing Rota

We are very grateful indeed to all these volunteers for their help.  Whilst John Hughes understandably feels mowing is rather too much for him these days, he is very willing to strim around the graves whenever necessary and he keeps a close eye on when this might be required.

If you are unavailable on your specified date, please arrange to swap with someone.
